How it works
A woodland project, step by step
Achfearn Wood is a made-up woodland project. Scroll to follow it from drawing the boundary to listing it on the registry. The figures are worked out by the platform’s own calculators.
Step 01
Draw the boundary
Draw the red line on the map, or drop in a shapefile, KML or GeoPackage. Area, parcels and the map of the site come straight from the geometry.
Step 02
Choose the mix
Set species, yield class and spacing for each parcel. The Woodland Carbon Code calculator runs as you change it, so units, buffer and revenue are always current.
Step 03
Screen the site
The boundary is checked against national datasets for water, soils, designations, the historic environment and existing woodland. The findings come back as a report you can share.
Step 04
Run the checks
Eligibility checks run against the standard: slope, peat depth, existing woodland, land capability and species suitability. Anything that fails takes a written mitigation that reviewers can see.
Step 05
Assemble the evidence
The project design document drafts itself from the project record and the files you upload. Every answer cites the evidence behind it.
Step 06
Put it on the registry
Submit for validation and registration without leaving the project. Milestones and documents sync with the UK Land Carbon Registry every night.
